Thyme on St Mary's

30 St Mary's St, Ely CB7 4ES, UK – 01353 662170

We hired the team at Thyme for our summer wedding last week! Everything was perfect from the planning and meetings at the beginning in the run up... to the set up on all three days of our Tipi wedding. Amy and Skye were super helpful in assisting in our visions... and made sure we were happy with everything! My wife was so happy with her bouquet, hair piece and various other elements she received on the day! The venue decor, button holes, sign decorations, wrist corsages, flower girls hoops and much more were all so beautiful. Thanks again, Sarah & Jonathan

Thank you so much for all of your help and efforts leading up to and on our wedding day. The arrangements really were stunning and you helped us to realise our vision.

Etheldreda Floral

65, Cardinals Way, Ely CB7 4GF, UK – 01353 650305

We found Etheldreda Floral when looking for wedding florists, and the arrangements were a cut above anything else we'd seen. I was sure they'd be out of our scope, but Ruth made suggestions to cut costs without sacrificing impact, and worked with us to accommodate our budget. The whole experience could not have been more perfect. Ruth was wonderful to work with, taking our wedding style to heart and offering really helpful guidance. I felt like our wedding was really important to her, and I immediately felt we were in good hands. EVERYONE raved about our table arrangements, which were artistic, natural, and perfect for our August country wedding, plus everything was environmentally-friendly (this was important to us). And my bouquet was an absolute dream! Now my whole family calls Ruth for all our special occasions!

Tips - Caring for your flowers once they are delivered

Placing your flowers in vase half to two thirds full with lukewarm water, will help closed buds to start opening.

  • Be careful when un-wrapping a hand-tied bouquet as it is delivered in a water bubble to keep the flowers fresh.
  • Arranging your flowers in cold water should be avoided as this can reduce the their life in the vase.
  • Avoid puting flowers in metal or aluminium containers - glass is ideal. Keep your flowers in a cool location, away from draughts, direct heat or sunlight. Arrange once unwrapped
  • Your flowers may take up to 24 hours after being placed in water to reach their full potential.
  • Strip off all excess foliage and leaves below the water level to reduce any harmful bacteria within the water.
  • Bacteria can block the stem and stop the flowers taking up the water.unwrap. Flowers like their stems trimmed. So, trim them, at an angle with a knife (rather than scissors) by an inch or so. When trimming stems, always cut at an angle of roughly 45degrees; this increases the surface area allowing your flowers to absorb more water.
  • If a Rose starts to droop at the head, re-cut the stem, wrap the head in paper to support it upright and plunge 5cms of the stem into boiling water for about 30seconds. Cut the stem again and place in deep cold water for two hours.trim

Most orders are accompanied by a sachet of cut flower food which will encourage buds to open and help to prolong the life and beauty of your flowers. Top up regularly with water and flower food, removing any fading flowers. Ensure the floristry foam used in arrangements is moist and topped up daily; this helps to prolong the life and vibrancy of your arrangements.
